ECUADORIAN ART

Picture
Guayasamin - The Bull & The Condor

The best known types of Ecuadorian art are derived from the Escuela Quiteña (the Quito School) which flourished from the 16th to 18th centuries. Examples of this art can be found in various older churches in the city of Quito. Ecuadorian artists such as Oswaldo Guayasamín, Camilo Egas and Eduardo Kingman belong to the Indigenist Movement, while others such as Manuel Rendon, Enrique Tábara, Anibal Villacis, Theo Constante, León Ricaurte and Estuardo Maldonado are proponents of the Informalism Movement.
